Moving East
Insite in partnership with firstsite: newsite
Insite has been working in partnership with firstsite in the Moving East project, a series of artist commisions, creative advertising campaigns and public events at firstsite:newsite.
The initiative was designed to raise awareness of the £16.5 million arts complex in Colchester, with a building developed around the concept and understanding of the visitor's journey. The project aimed at extending this concept through a research initiative focused on embedding cultural tourism development in the gallery's strategy.
The research project analysed current cultural tourism activities in art venues and local authorities in the South-East of England and provided a practical 'tool-kit' report to be implemented in firstsite's business plan.
An advertising campaign on the transport network designed by an artist was also included in the project.
