Spoke'n'Word II

Insite in partnership with Martin Newell

Following the success of Spoke'n'Word 2006 Insite in partnership with Martin Newell presented this year a new expanded programme. Trips included walks and cycle rides through the beautiful Essex countryside with poet Martin Newell and visual artist Charlotte Bernays as tour guides.

The original Colne Valley route was joined by two new exciting options: Thorrington Tide Mill Walk and By Bycicle to Bentley Green. Tours took place over the weekends during May and June this year.

A website blog collects anecdotes, poems, comments and illustrations from the participants of the routes and the general public: leave your own words about Essex

Also, coming out of the Spoke'n'Word project, there was an exhibition by Charlotte Bernays titled 'Violent Sweeps and Tiny Tremors', an installation of sculpture which takes the flight of birds as its subject referencing both the rural and industrial landscape.
