Lifelines

Life Lines

arts|generate Southend

A major public art commission as part of the redevelopment of Pier Hill.

Life Lines is a dynamic 54 metre-long sculpture created using cutting edge technology by international artists Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier, and was launched in the spring of 2006.

With its accompanying public art strategy, this project signals Southend Borough Council’s commitment to working with developers and high-profile artists to enhance the town’s physical and aesthetic environment. It will provide a focal point for the multi-million pound transformation of Pier Hill, creating a space which links the seafront and the main shopping centre, a landmark for Southend’s 160,400 residents and an attraction for its 6.1 million annual visitors.
